Vice Chancellor Brother Peter Bray met with Mr. Bader Al-Saad, General Director/Chairman at the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait, the largest donor to the British Council Higher Education Scholarships for Palestinians (HESPAL) programme, during a meeting organized by the British Council in the Occupied Palestinian Territories at Al Carmel Hotel in Ramallah on Sunday, 12 June 2022.

Dr. Basri Saleh, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Presidents of Palestinian universities, HESPAL Official Coordinators, and other senior representatives, and many HESPAL scholarship alumni attended the meeting which focused on the importance of the HESPAL program in developing the next generation of Palestinian academics.

The participants, including Dr. Rawan Gedon from the Faculty of Science, shared their experiences on the impact of the program which enabled 208 young academics to pursue postgraduate study in the UK since 2010, and how best to develop this work to build the capacity of Palestinian universities in areas of strategic priority and create opportunities for networking, innovation and research partnerships with UK universities.
