On Friday, 17 October 2025, the Athletic Department at Bethlehem University organized an energetic and highly engaging 3×3 Basketball Tournament at the George Felton Court, featuring ten teams representing students, alumni, faculty, and staff. The event was marked by a vibrant atmosphere, strong community participation, and a true spirit of sportsmanship.
The ten teams were divided into two groups of five, competing in 32 matches during the first round. The top four teams from each group advanced to the semifinals, leading to an intense final game where the champions were crowned.
Tournament Results:
• First place: Team Lareen Abu Aita, Basil Abu Aita, Nasri Al-Atrash, and Islam Al-Julani
• Second place: Team George Ghneim, Edward Kharoufe, Johnny Beji, and Nicole Al-Tawil
The tournament drew a large turnout of students and community members who enjoyed the competitive yet friendly games, filled with enthusiasm and mutual encouragement. Matches began at 4:00 PM and continued until 9:00 PM, with lively cheers echoing across the court. The Detox Group added to the event’s spirit by offering healthy natural juices to attendees and presenting gifts to the winning team, while Bristol Cafeteria provided meals for all participants in appreciation of their efforts.
At the closing ceremony, Dr. Fadi Kattan, Executive Vice President of Bethlehem University, congratulated the winners and praised the Athletic Department for its exceptional organization of the event. Ms. Samar Moussa, Director of the Athletics Department, emphasized that the tournament is part of the University’s ongoing efforts to revive George Felton Court, strengthen the presence of Palestinian basketball, and foster a sense of community through sports, especially during challenging times.
All matches were refereed by certified referees from the Palestinian Basketball Federation, with a total of 35 matches completed successfully.
The Athletic Department extended its sincere gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the tournament’s success, and expressed special appreciation to sports supervisor Verona Khair for her leadership and professionalism in coordinating the event.
