Bethlehem University Concludes Third Phase of Media Education in Palestine Project and Launches Community Initiatives

Institute for Community Engagement and Partnership (ICP) at Bethlehem University, in collaboration with the Interactive Media Program in the Department of Arabic Language and the Finnish Lifelong Learning Foundation (KVS), and with the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, concluded the third phase of the Media Education in Palestine Project (2023–2026).

A total of 36 third-year students from the Interactive Media Program completed this phase, which combined online and in-person training over 44 instructional hours.

This third cycle of the project included six days of intensive hybrid training, led jointly by trainers from Bethlehem University and Finnish media experts, in addition to ten integrated sessions facilitated by faculty members from the Interactive Media Program.

The training focused on strengthening students’ media literacy, critical thinking, and digital citizenship, while enhancing their ability to analyze and respond to misinformation, disinformation, and artificial intelligence-generated content across traditional and digital media platforms.

With the conclusion of this phase, students are now set to launch community-based media initiatives in partnership with civil society organizations across Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Hebron. These initiatives aim to apply the knowledge and skills students have gained to raise awareness on media and information literacy issues, reinforcing the University’s mission of linking academic learning with community engagement and social responsibility.

This project reflects Bethlehem University’s continued commitment to fostering critical, ethical, and socially engaged media professionals who contribute meaningfully to the development of Palestinian society.
