As part of the Health Assessment course (NURS 252), taught by Dr. Hanan Hazboun and Mr. Milad Azar, second-year nursing students from Bethlehem University’s Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences participated in a series of community-based service-learning activities between 28 and 30 October 2025.
The activities, conducted in collaboration with Pro-Terra Sancta and supervised by Mr. Azar, took place over three consecutive days from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They aimed to strengthen students’ clinical competence and promote public health awareness through direct community engagement.
Students provided basic health assessments, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and blood sugar measurements, alongside health education and preventive counseling. The awareness sessions emphasized the importance of early detection, regular check-ups, and healthy lifestyle habits to prevent chronic diseases.
These service-learning experiences offered nursing students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts, enhance their communication and clinical skills, and develop a sense of social responsibility toward the community.
The Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Bethlehem University continues to emphasize the importance of integrating community engagement within nursing education, ensuring that students acquire not only technical competence but also the values of compassion, service, and commitment to health promotion.
