Bethlehem University Hosts New Referees Course for Southern Region Basketball

Bethlehem University hosted the New Referees Course – Southern Region for basketball on Friday, 21 November 2025, welcoming students and athletes eager to develop their officiating skills. The opening ceremony featured Mr. Nimer Ayoub, Board Member of the Palestinian Basketball Federation, and Ms. Samar Mousa Al-Araj, Director of the Athletics Department and Lecturer at Bethlehem University.

The course, held at the University’s Sansour Hall, aims to train young referees to support local championships and enhance the refereeing system in the southern governorates and across Palestine. Mr. Ayoub highlighted the University’s strong role in supporting Palestinian sports and its commitment to fostering youth development in athletics.

The training program was led by referee Ammar Noufal, who delivered both theoretical and practical sessions, supported by referee Elias Bandak. Participants were introduced to the essential rules of basketball and key officiating skills. The course ran over three consecutive days, providing a comprehensive environment for practical learning and skill-building.
