The Tarek Ahmad Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Bethlehem University hosted Mr. Moataz Allan, a specialist in intensive care and anesthesia and a distinguished graduate of the Class of 2015, who currently works at St. Joseph Hospital in Jerusalem. Mr. Allan delivered an enriching academic lecture to fourth-year nursing students, offering in-depth insight into the structure and function of the operating department.

Coordinated by Ms. Etaf Maqboul, Course Coordinator for Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing, the session aimed to strengthen clinical preparedness by bridging theoretical learning with real-world professional experience.

During the lecture, Mr. Allan provided a detailed overview of the operating department’s specialized units and the essential responsibilities of nurses before, during, and after surgical procedures. He emphasized the central role nurses play in safeguarding patient safety, maintaining sterile environments, and ensuring the highest standards of care throughout the perioperative process.

Mr. Allan also introduced students to the different types of anesthesia, highlighting the unique characteristics of each and explaining the crucial collaborative role nurses perform in their administration and monitoring within the operating room.

The lecture served as a valuable learning opportunity, enabling students to gain firsthand knowledge from a professional currently practicing in the field. It reflects the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening clinical competence, fostering professional connections, and supporting the success of its future nurses through continuous engagement with alumni and healthcare partners.
