Italian Parliamentary Delegation Visits Bethlehem University

Bethlehem University recently welcomed a delegation of six members from the Italian Parliament representing the Democratic Party. The delegation included Laura Boldrini, Chair of the Chamber of Deputies’ Human Rights Committee; Mauro Berruto, Head of Sports for the Democratic Party; Valentina Ghio, Vice-President of the Democratic Party group in the Chamber of Deputies; Ouidad Bakkali; Sara Ferrari; and Andrea Orlando, former minister and current regional councilor for Liguria.

The visit was part of a wider program coordinated by the Palestinian Olympic Committee, which extended a special invitation to Mauro Berruto, former coach of the Italian national volleyball team. The Committee requested Mr. Berruto to provide coaching support to the Palestinian men’s national volleyball team, an initiative aimed at strengthening local sports development and international cooperation.

Beyond their sports-related engagement, the delegation expressed a strong interest in visiting Bethlehem University. Their goal was to learn more about the University’s mission, meet with students, and gain a deeper understanding of the realities of pursuing higher education under challenging conditions. The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue on the role of education, resilience, and international solidarity.

Bethlehem University extends its appreciation to the delegation for their visit and their commitment to learning about the experiences and aspirations of our academic community.
