The Tarek Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Bethlehem University organized an interactive educational event for students enrolled in the Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing and First Aid courses, in collaboration with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society – Bethlehem Branch.
Mr. Abdul Halim Ja’afari, Branch Manager, delivered an informative lecture highlighting the Society’s mission and vision, as well as the essential roles of paramedics in emergency response. He discussed first aid management for common emergency cases including bleeding, fractures, poisoning, burns, chest pain, and fever. Mr. Ja’afari also shed light on the challenges faced by Red Crescent teams, particularly road closures that often delay their ability to reach patients quickly and provide life-saving care.
As part of the training, a field simulation was conducted in the Faculty’s courtyard, led by paramedic Mr. Ahmad Al-Siouri. The scenario reenacted an injury resulting from a fall accident, allowing students to practice first aid procedures, stabilize the patient on-site, and apply safe techniques for lifting and transporting the injured person into an ambulance.
Faculty members Etaf Maqboul, Amal Abu Nijmeh, Dr. Hanan Hazboun, and NourAldeen Al-Talbishi attended the activity, supporting students as they enhanced their clinical skills through practical, real-world experience.
This initiative reflects the Faculty’s commitment to experiential learning and preparing students to respond effectively to emergency situations in their future professional practice.
