The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Tarek Ahmed Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences participated in the First National Rehabilitation Conference, hosted by Dura Al-Amal Charitable Association in Dura, Hebron, from 20–21 October 2025.
The conference brought together academics, researchers, and practitioners in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy from across the West Bank, with additional participants joining remotely from Gaza and Jordan.
Mr. Anan Ghabash, Head of the Rehabilitation Sciences Department, served as a member of the Preparatory Committee and acted as the rapporteur for one of the scientific sessions, which focused on emerging scientific trends and Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR).
Two faculty members from the Physiotherapy Program presented research papers during the conference:
Mr. Ibrahim Salhab, Instructor in the Department, presented a comparative study titled “The Effectiveness of Maitland Mobilization versus the McKenzie Prone Press-Up Exercise for Treating Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain.” His research found that Maitland Mobilization achieved greater improvements in pain reduction, functional ability, and movement confidence.
Ms. Mira Amer, Instructor in the Department, presented a study entitled “Developing a Physical Activity Program for Children Based on Behavior Change Models and Investigating Its Efficiency: A Quasi-Experimental Study.” Her findings revealed that the program significantly enhanced children’s physical activity levels and intrinsic motivation toward exercise.
Bethlehem University’s active participation in this national scientific event underscores its ongoing commitment to advancing research, promoting innovation, and fostering academic collaboration in the field of rehabilitation sciences.
