Talitha Kumi School Students Visit Bethlehem University and the Zbierski Library

On Tuesday, 21 October 2025, 9th-grade students from Talitha Kumi School, accompanied by their teachers Ms. Nadia Habibeh and Ms. Hilda Ballout, visited the Zbierski Library to learn about the Library, George Nasra Center for Palestinian Heritage – Turathuna, and Bethlehem University.

The Library team warmly welcomed the group upon arrival. Ms. Elizabeth Dsouza, Library Director, introduced the students to the Library’s mission and provided an overview of Bethlehem University and its academic community. Ms. Sana Salsa, Library Staff for Circulation Services, demonstrated the borrowing procedures, RFID system, and OPAC use, while guiding the students through the discussion rooms and silent study areas.

At Turathuna Center, Ms. Mirna Zoughbi and Ms. Sana Salsa presented traditional 19th-century Palestinian dresses and guided the students through the heritage exhibits, explaining the cultural significance of the items displayed. The group also watched two short documentary films, one about old Bethlehem and another about the depopulated village of Lifta, offering a meaningful glimpse into Palestinian history and memory.

The students toured all library floors, including the Archives, where Archivist Sr. Rose Amacanin introduced them to the archival materials preserved at Bethlehem University. The visit concluded at the Chapel of the Divine Child, where Ms. Amjad Musleh, Guest Relations Officer, explained the chapel’s history and significance. Finally, Ms. Rania Abdel Nour introduced the group to the Hotel Management program.

The students enjoyed a well-rounded experience that combined history, culture, and academic discovery. Both teachers and students expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome, the enriching learning experience, and the insightful tour of the campus.

Bethlehem University extends its sincere thanks to Talitha Kumi School for their visit and looks forward to welcoming them again in the future.
