Bethlehem University Nursing Students Lead Health Awareness Campaign at St. Louis Hospital in Jerusalem

As part of the educational and training activities for nursing students, a group of second-year students from the Tarek Ahmed Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Bethlehem University conducted a health awareness activity at St. Louis Hospital in Jerusalem, focusing on two important public health issues: breast cancer and diabetes.

The aim of this initiative was to promote health awareness among patients, visitors, and hospital staff by providing accurate scientific information about prevention methods, early detection, and treatment, as well as by encouraging a healthy lifestyle that helps reduce the spread of these chronic diseases.

Two awareness stations were set up inside the hospital:

  • The breast cancer station featured interactive explanations on the importance of regular self-examination, recognizing early symptoms, and understanding available diagnostic methods. Students also distributed informative leaflets to patients and visitors.
  • The diabetes awareness station focused on identifying risk factors, promoting balanced nutrition, monitoring blood sugar levels, and maintaining regular physical activity as key prevention strategies.

The event was well received by the hospital administration and visitors, as it had a positive impact on spreading health awareness and strengthening communication between students and the local community.

This activity comes within a series of initiatives organized by the Tarek Ahmed Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences to enhance service learning, link theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, and encourage students to engage in community service through health education.

Bethlehem University extends its gratitude to St. Louis Hospital, the clinical instructors, and the faculty members who guided and supported the students throughout this impactful experience.
