The Zbierski Library held its Annual Library Liaison Meeting (LLT) on Thursday, 20 November 2025, at the Turathuna Center, bringing together faculty representatives from across the University to review progress, discuss needs, and enhance cooperation between the Library and academic departments.
Ms. Elizabeth Dsouza, Director of the Library, warmly welcomed Prof. Iman Saca, Academic Vice President, along with faculty representatives from various departments. She highlighted the essential role of liaisons in connecting the library with academic departments, helping the library understand needs, identify gaps, and shape services that remain aligned with the University’s Mission. She emphasized the value of collaboration and expressed deep appreciation for the ongoing support and partnership throughout the year.
She noted that the First Year Experience initiative brought vibrant student engagement and meaningful use of library spaces. She further underscored the importance of joint efforts in student activities, book clubs, and similar collaborations. She recalled last year’s book launch featuring Ms. Elainne Rumman, describing it as an energetic and inspiring event that deeply resonated with students.
To enhance students’ information literacy, she stressed the need for continued cooperation on e-resource sessions and thanked the faculty members who had already reached out to the library for support.
Ms. Juana Juha, LLT Coordinator, presented a concise report on e-resource usage, departmental orientations, and the findings of a recent survey assessing e-resource needs. She provided a brief demonstration on accessing e-resources and highlighted the importance of guiding students to make effective use of them.
Ms. Mary Claire shared updates on book acquisitions and outlined some of the challenges encountered in the process. She encouraged faculty to follow the acquisition procedures and to contact Mr. Francis Sliebi for assistance when needed. She also urged departments to remain proactive in recommending and purchasing essential books.
Ms. Mirna Zoughbi provided updates on the usage of discussion rooms, the reserve shelf, and the Turathuna school visits and summer camp activities, all of which brought renwed fresh energy and life into the library.
Faculty members actively participated in the discussion, offering suggestions and exploring ways to strengthen collaboration moving forward.
Prof. Iman Saca expressed her appreciation for the library’s dedicated service to faculty, staff, and students. She encouraged the team to continue their excellent work and commended the strong student engagement fostered through the First Year Experience. Faculty representatives also shared their gratitude towards the entire library staff.
Ms. Dsouza concluded the meeting by thanking attendees for their participation and reaffirming the Library’s commitment to supporting teaching, research, and student success across Bethlehem University.
