2020 Accomplishments

Mr. Nader Hazboun, Lecturer in the Biology department, had his article titled,” Adoptive Cellular Immunotherapy for Solid Tumors” published in International Journal of Tumor Therapy, 9(1), 2020, pp.1-4. doi: 10.5923/j.ijtt.20200901.01.


Dr. Mohammed Abu Ayyash, Assistnat Professor in Math Department, had his article titled, “Some Completely Semisimple HNN-extensions of Inverse semigroups”, in International Journal of Algebra and Computation, 30(2), 2020.


Mr. Nader Abu Saad, Instructor in the Department of Software Engineering, presented a paper titled, “Collection and Identification of Microservices Patterns and Antipatterns,” at the CAL 2019 “Conférence Francophone sur les Architectures Logicielles,” Hammamet, Tunisia, October 29-30, 2019. The paper is based on a collaborative research project that was carried out with a professor from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) and was accepted for publication at CAL 2019.


2019 Accomplishments

Dr. Micheal Hanania, Dean of Science Faculty and Chairperson of Chemistry department, had his article titled,”Determination of Minerals, Total Phenolic Content, Flavonoids, Antioxidants and Antimicrobial Activities of Ethanolic Extract of Sweet Lupinus angustifolius of Palestine,” published in the European Journal of Medical Plants, 28(1):1-6,2019. This publication was partially funded by the Palestinian Ministry of Education Fund through the Office of the Dean of Research at Bethlehem University.


Ms. Reem Zeitoun, Instructor in Chemistry department, had her article titled,” The Detection of Toxic Born in Groundwater and Sludge in Bethlehem Area,” published in Jordan Journal of Earth and Environmental Sciences, 9(3), 2018, pp.139-145. This article was funded by an Internal Research grant from Bethlehem University.


Dr. Michel Hanania, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Dean of Science Faculty, had his article titled, “Extraction Method and Evaluation of Phenolics, Flavonoids, Antioxidant Activity, Antimicrobial Activity and Minerals of Bitter Lupinus albus in Palestine” published in the Journal of Biologically Active Products from Nature, 8(2): 2018, pp.137-143. 2016 Accomplishments

Ms. Reem Zeitoun, Instructor in the Chemistry Department, presented a proposal titled, “Evaluation of chemical composition of the essential oil of Laurus nobilis L. leaves and fruits from different regions in Palestine,” at the Fifth Annual International Symposium on Lasallian Research at Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota, USA, in Sep 25-27, 2016.


2015 Accomplishments

Dr. Huwaida Rabie, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, had her co-authored article, “Combining field performance with controlled environment plant imaging to identify the genetic control of physiological traits underlying yield response to water deficit stress,” published in the Journal of Experimental Botany. Dr. Suhail Odeh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Technology, presented a paper titled, “Hybrid algorithm: fuzzy logic-genetic algorithm on traffic light intelligent system,” at the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2015), Istanbul, Turkey, 2-5 August 2015.


Dr. Odeh also presented, with Duha Al-Darras, and Br. Henry J. Chaya, a paper titled, “A Novel Approach for optimization of Feature Selection,” at the 4th Palestinian International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (PICCIT 2015), 7-8 October 2017. Hebron- Palestine.


Ms. Reem Zeitoun, an Instructor in the Chemistry Department, presented a paper titled, “Detection of Toxic Boron in Potable Water and Wastewater in Bethlehem Region,” at the Fourth Annual InternationalSymposium on Lasallian Research, SaintMary’s University, Minnesota, USA, Sep 27-29, 2015.


2014 Accomplishments

Mr. Nader Hazboun, Lecturer of Clinical Laboratory Sciences in the Biology Department,presented a poster on the frequency of K antigen in Bethlehem and Hebron Districts at the 8th The Palestinian Conference for Laboratory Medicine, that was held in Albireh on August 14-16, 2014.


Dr. Omar Darissa, Assistant Professor of  phyto- and mycovirology, gave a talk on the status of biotechnology in Palestine for a Swiss delegation, consisting of the presidents of several Swiss universities and Heads of several academic centers and institutions . The lecture was held at the Leaders Organization, Ramallah, 7 December, 2014.


2013 Accomplishments

Dr. Haifa Konkar, Dean of Science and Math Department Chair, has participated in the fourth Palestinian conference on modern trends in mathematics and physics that was held in AlQuds university from Aug. 11 to August 13. Her presentation focused on the reasons students avoid choosing mathematics as their major at the university level.

Shada Abuawad-Shahin, Instructor in English Department, had her article titled, “Rethinking Palestinian exile: Inherent loss and the object of desire in Mourid Barghouti’s I Saw Ramallah,” in Bethlehem University Journal, vol. 36, 2019.


Dr. Ahmed Fasfous, Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Social Sciences Department, had his co-authored chapter, “Refugiados: del estrés cotidiano al brutal drama” published in Un villano llamado estrés Cómo impacta en nuestra salud, edited by Peralta Ramirez, Ediciones Pirámide, 2019. Ms. Shada Shahin, Instructor in the English Department, moderated a panel titled “Imagined Destinations” at the American Studies Symposium, “Beyond Home: Poetics and Politics of Displacement,” which was held at An-Najah University, Nablus, Sep 25, 2017.


Dr. Ahmed Fasfous, Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences Department, had his article, “Neuropsychological Measures in the Arab World: A Systematic Review,” published in the leading and prestigious journal Neuropsychlogical Review 27.2 (2017): 158-173 (DOI 10.1007/s11065-017-9347-3). The article was co-authored with researchers from KSA, the USA, and Spain, including the current President of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Antonio Puente. Dr. Jamil Khader, Dean of Research and Prof of English, signed a contract for his new book, Zizek and the Fantastic: Science Fiction, Fairy Tale Rewrites, and Vampire Narratives, with the international publishing group, Peter Lang. The book is the first in the new Zizek Studies series that is edited by Antonio Garcia and Geoff Boucher.

Mr. Yacoub Sleibi, Lecturer in Finance and Economics in the Faculty of Business Administration, had his article titled, “AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MULTIPLE EXCHANGE RATE VOLATILITIES AND MACROECONOMIC PERFORMANCE IN PALESTINE,” published in the British Journal of Economics, Finance and Management Sciences 11.1 (2016): 187-200.
