Mazin Qumsiyeh, Ph.D.

Professor, Director of Cytogenetics Services, Director of Palestine Institute for Biodiversity & Sustainability and Palestine Museum of Natural History

Prof. Mazin Qumsieh is a distinguished Palestinian academic, researcher, and advocate for social justice, currently serving as a Professor of Biology at Bethlehem University. He is the founder and volunteer director of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS), a leading organization in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Palestine. Prof. Qumsieh has authored 250 scientific papers, over 30 book chapters, and several books on topics ranging from biodiversity conservation to genetics and human rights. He has won numerous awards for his work and was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his contributions to science and human rights. His career spans teaching, research, and activism, using his platform to raise awareness about Palestinian rights and environmental issues. Prof. Qumsieh has established international collaborations and is committed to fostering scientific knowledge, peace, and justice.
