The first of its kind in Palestine

On Thursday, 8 September 2022, H.E. Chilean Ambassador Christian Hodges-Nugent, and his deputy Mr. Ricardo Cardenas delivered a donated Portable Electro Cardiogram device to Bethlehem University’s Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Ms. Mariam Awad, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, Mr. Youil Anastas, Vice President for Finance, Advancement and Estates, Dr. Muna Matar, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Ms. Dalia Qumsiyeh Director of Advancement, in addition to the deputy director of Bethlehem health center Mr. Ahmed Odeh, and the Nursing Director Ms. Kariman Shihadeh, and the nursing faculty were in their reception at the John Cardinal Foley Hall, the new premises of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences.

The new ECG device, which was donated by Chilean Company, Isatec in cooperation with the University of Chile, is the first of its kind in Palestine, and can be connected to computer software so patients’ information can be stored along with their medical history and results can be printed out at any time.  Further benefits are that the device is small and portable.

This key diagnostic tool will be used for the benefit of many and we will be able to train the students in its use, after the training which will be conducted by the donor company and the University of Chile.

This device will give an opportunity for our students to gain experience in performing ECGs and will be used to serve the community after the establishment of the Nursing clinic on campus.

The Dean of Nursing expressed gratitude to the Isatec and the University of Chile for this kind and special donation which is the first of its kind at any Palestinian university or hospital.
