Bethlehem University participated in the 12th Palestinian Collegiate Programming Contest (PCPC-2023), sponsored by telecommunications company Ooredoo, took place at Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho on Sunday, September 10, 2023. The event featured 41 teams from the West Bank and 32 teams from the Gaza Strip, attracting a diverse array of supervisors, professors, experts, and representatives from Palestinian universities.

Eight students from its Software Engineering Department competed, organized into three teams under the supervision of Mr. Nader Abu Saad, Instructor at the Department of Software Engineering. They secured 13th place among the competitors, marking this as a significant achievement for the university.

The competition’s aim is to foster teamwork, enhance logical thinking, and encourage the application of complex algorithms in solving real-world problems.

The contest concluded with the attendance of several notable figures: Dr. Eng. Ishaq Sidr, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Prof. Dr. Nour El-Din Abu Al-Rub, the President of Al-Istiqlal University; Dr. Musa Rifaia, the President of the International Programming Competition; and Dr. Mohammed Fouad, the coordinator of the Arab-African competition from Egypt.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Ishaq Sidr expressed gratitude to Al-Istiqlal University for hosting the event and commended the representatives of Palestinian universities for their dedication to programming education and competitive excellence.
