The short film “Creating Change,” featuring two students from the English Department at Bethlehem University, Rand Fararjeh and Donia Dibi, has recently received the Silver Award at the Festival of Visual and Interactive Media. This festival was organized by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) in the USA in March 2024. AEJMC is a distinguished international nonprofit organization serving academics, journalists, media professionals, and educators in the journalism and mass communication sectors.

“Creating Change” is a compelling short documentary that explores the perspectives and ambitions of two young Palestinian content creators, Rand Fararjeh and Donia Dibi. Their work aims to challenge stereotypes, reshape the Palestinian narrative, and foster a more accurate portrayal of Palestinians in Western media.

The film was directed by Palestinian filmmaker Dina Amin and produced by Prof. Brian J. Bowe, the Chairperson of the Department of Journalism at Western Washington University, and Dr. Bidisha Biswas, a lecturer in communication at the same university. It was filmed during the summer of 2023 at media literacy workshops held at America House in Jerusalem and Ramallah.
