Dr. Nahida Al-Arja, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, has recently published two co-authored research articles in leading academic journals, contributing to the fields of education and social sciences in Palestine.
The first article, titled “The Role of the School in Developing Citizenship Values Among Upper Basic Stage Students in Nablus Governorate,” was published in The International Journal of Educational and Psychological Studies (EPS), Vol. 14, Issue 2, 2025. This study examined how schools contribute to strengthening citizenship values among students in the upper basic stage in Nablus. Based on a survey of 500 students, the results showed that the role of school curricula in fostering these values was rated as moderate.
The study recommended forming a specialized committee to prepare a comprehensive plan for promoting citizenship values through effective strategies, school curricula, and community involvement, highlighting the important role of teachers and parents in shaping students’ national identity.
The second article, titled “The Level of Burnout Among Palestinian Media Professionals in the West Bank, Palestine,” was published in The Journal of Posthumanism, Vol. 5, Issue 7, 2025. This study focused on the professional and psychological challenges faced by Palestinian media professionals. Using data collected from 182 participants through a descriptive analytical approach, the research measured burnout levels across different factors such as gender, experience, and academic qualifications.
Results showed moderate levels of burnout, with the highest scores related to promotion and development, and the lowest in anger management. While no significant differences were found by gender or qualifications, professional experience was found to play a role, with the group of 11–15 years of experience reporting higher burnout levels. The study emphasized the need to provide media professionals with psychological counseling and resources to better cope with stress and professional pressures.
Bethlehem University congratulates Dr. Al-Arja on these important academic contributions, which not only advance scholarly knowledge but also address pressing social and professional issues in Palestine. Her research reflects the University’s commitment to producing impactful studies that serve both the academic community and society at large.
